BEIRUT, 2nd April, 2016 (WAM) -- The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, KF, in cooperation with the UAE Embassy in Lebanon, today started the distribution of aid to 5000 displace Syrian and Lebanese families in Tripoli, North of Lebanon.
The move is in implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
An official source at KF said that the distribution of assistance, as per directives of the wise leadership, is part of the UAE's response to meet the needs of the displaced Syrians in Lebanon during winter season. The campaign targets 44,383 displaced Syrian and Lebanese families across Lebanon.
He also indicated that the campaign aims at providing assistance to the displaced Syrian and Lebanese families and others to overcome the severe cold wave that swept a number of Lebanese areas.
On his part, Musallem Al Mansouri, director of the humanitarian and development aid office at the UAE Embassy in Beirut said that decision to launch humanitarian campaign was taken after the field visit of Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Lebanon. The campaign is carried by the KF in cooperation with other relief associations in Lebanon for the benefit of the victims and it will continue until April 7th.
