French President Francois Hollande announced in Beirut on Saturday 100 million euros in aid for Lebanon which is hosting more than one million refugees from war-torn Syria.
"French assistance will be increased to 100 million euros ($113 million) in the next three years," he said at a joint press conference in the Lebanese capital with Prime Minister Tammam Salam.
Hollande also announced "immediate aid to strengthen Lebanon's military capacity" and said Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian "will define with his Lebanese counterpart material resources to strengthen Lebanon's ability to ensure its security".
