On 17 November, WFP’s Executive Board approved two new protracted relief and recovery operations (PRROs) for Syria and the five neighbouring countries. The regional PRRO will operationalize the first two years of Vision 2020, maintaining life-saving assistance while building the self-reliance of vulnerable Syrian refugees and host communities.
On 20 October, Turkey’s Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN) was launched in the Altindag district of Ankara.
This is the first phase of a programme to reach 1 million refugees across the country. The ESSN will be officially rolled out nationwide before the end of the year.Preliminary results of the 2016 Comprehensive Food Security Monitoring Exercise (CFSME) show a marked improvement in food security levels of Syrian refugees in Jordan since 2015, likely due the consistent regular provision of food assistance.
WFP Lebanon is distributing a new e-card to be used as a common assistance platform for WFP, UNICEF, UNHCR and the Lebanese Cash Consortium (LCC).
