Highlights
Syria: Between 1 and 31 May, IOM provided over 7,400 displaced persons and returnees in Rural Damascus with family water kits. Moreover, IOM’s livelihood project is ongoing, targeting IDP population in four camps in Idleb with livelihood assistance and establishment of market areas.
Turkey: During the month of Ramadan, IOM continues to provide hot meals to vulnerable refugees and host community members through three food kitchens in Gaziantep run by the Governorate. In Sanliurfa and Hatay, IOM’s mobile outreach teams conducted 23 awareness -raising sessions for refugees and host communities on their rights and access to services.
Lebanon: On 19 May, IOM in collaboration with UNHCR, UNICEF and the Ministry of Public Health conducted an awareness session on detection and referral of tuberculosis for outreach volunteers working with NGOs in Arsal.
Iraq: Between 1 and 31 May, over 140 individuals (Syrian refugees, IDPs and host communities) participated in basic greenhouse skills and pesticide safety training sessions conducted by IOM in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk.
Jordan: Between 7 and 18 May, IOM held trainings on Humanitarian Border Management and Counter-Trafficking for Jordanian border authorities. Additionally, IOM provided over 7,600 students with transportation assistance to schools in Azraq camp.
