Highlights
Syria: During the reporting period, IOM teams provided 43,887 beneficiaries in Al-Hassakeh, Rural Damascus, Lattakia, Homs, Tartous, and Damascus with non-food items, health assistance, and shelter support.
Turkey: In July, IOM began a partnership with the Turkish Red Crescent to expand the opening hours of six Turkish Red Crescent community centres providing Syrian refugees with Turkish language courses during the weekday evenings and weekends.
Lebanon: IOM continues to contribute to the reduction of tuberculosis (TB) transmission, morbidity and mortality among Syrian refugees and local host communities. Since January 2017, IOM has screened over 7,400 individuals for TB and identified seven active cases.
Iraq: IOM in coordination with the Swedish Academy for Training is offering online English language courses and vocational training opportunities for refugees in Basirma, Darashakran,
Kawergosik, and Qushtapa camps in Erbil governorate.Jordan: During the reporting period, IOM held a training in Amman on Humanitarian Border Management and Countertrafficking for Jordanian Authorities. A total of 23 officials participated in the training.
Further, IOM conducted a technical Rapid Needs Assessment on 5 July at AlKaramah-Turaibil Border Crossing Point (BCP).
