Qatar Charity Relief projects focus on supporting the affected people inside Syria, as the beneficiaries residing inside Syria reached 72% of the total beneficiaries living in Syria and countries of asylum.
Qatar Charity's humanitarian relief interventions for displaced Syrians increased significantly in 2017 compared with previous years, as the beneficiaries in this year amounted 28% of the total number of beneficiaries for the period 2011-2017.
Qatar Charity Projects for the relief of the affected Syrians, benefitted more than 16.2m displaced people and refugees in the areas of food, shelter, health and education since April 2011 until the end of December 2017, which cost about 544.5 million riyals.
The QC relief projects have been given greater attentions, especially in the past seven years, due to the ongoing crisis in several countries, to support the displaced and affected Syrians.
Areas of Relief Intervention
The number of beneficiaries of food supply projects such as food baskets, relief items and running bakeries, reached 8,584,755 during the period 2011-2017. As many as 2,012,704 people benefited from housing and non-food projects, which include tents, setting up villages for the displaced persons, blankets, mattresses, fans, kitchen utensils, cleaning appliances, housing rents, refrigerators, washing machines, etc. Qatar Charity supported 2,769,085 persons through its health projects, which include treating sick and wounded, providing medical equipment, supplies and ambulances, etc., as well as Qatar Charity’s educational projects (repairing and running schools, printing school curricula, training teachers and other) benefited 2,841,046 people.
Qatar Charity Projects inside Syria
Qatar Charity pays special attentions to the relief projects inside Syria, as the beneficiaries residing inside Syria reached 72% of the total beneficiaries of its relief projects implemented for the Syrian displaced and refugees inside and outside Syria, which means that 11,669,464 people inside Syria benefited from the QC relief projects during the period 2011-2017.
However, the beneficiaries of its relief projects in the countries of asylum (Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, other countries) amounted for more than 28% of the total beneficiaries of the relief projects for Syrian displaced and refugees, which accounted for 4,538,126 beneficiaries.
2017… the Year of QC’s Greater Intervention
Qatar Charity’s relief interventions for the Syrian displaced and refugees increased significantly in 2017, compared to previous years, as the number of beneficiaries of the relief projects in the areas of food, shelter, health and education projects, reached 4,609,751, accounting for more than 28% of the total number of beneficiaries of the QC relief projects implemented to benefit the Syrian people during the period (April 2011 - December 2017).
The projects implemented in 2017 costed QR 189,634,600, which accounts for about 35% of the total value of projects implemented by Qatar Charity for the benefit of the Syrian people in the period (April 2011 December 2017).
It is worth noting that Qatar Charity was continuously ranked first for several years, in the world in terms of the relief for the Syrian people at the level of humanitarian NGOs, according to the report of Financial Tracking Services (FTS) of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
