On 15 March seven years ago, conflict broke out in Syria. Since then, while people around the world have graduated from school, married and found new jobs – in other words, lived their lives – too many children, women and men in Syria have known little but conflict, fear and deprivation.

13.1 million The number of people who need humanitarian assistance due to the conflict. This includes 6.1 million people who have been internally displaced, and 5.5 million people living as refugees in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. Some 5.3 million of those in need of aid are children.
