Operational Updates
• Under the umbrella of the National Poverty Targeting Programme (NPTP), a technical workshop was organized jointly with the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The purpose of the workshop is to identify the next steps on a number of topics, including monitoring, evaluation, communication and Grievance Redress Systems.
• Through its resilience programme, WFP is targeting cooperatives for capacity building and to strengthen the linkages between communities and the respective markets. Such capacity-strengthening activities include the support of value chains and the production of honey, olive oil, pome fruit, aromatic herbs and plants, dairy products, and small handicrafts including artisanal rugs, market-oriented and climate smart agriculture products, as well as agri-food processing.
• Implementation of forestry and training projects is underway for both Food Assistance for Assets and Food Assistance for Training (FFA) activities countrywide. The proposed activities are implemented through partnerships with 14 national and international Non-governmental organizations including Chamber of Commerce and Educational Institution, as well as approximately 155 municipalities throughout Lebanon. Meetings with relevant Ministries (Agriculture, Energy and Water) took place to ensure proper planning for 2019-2020 programming, considering the needs of communities where the most vulnerable populations are centralized.
