By Mubarak Al-Hajri BEIRUT, Nov 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) launched Thursday an aid campaign to support Syrian refugees in Lebanon in coordination with the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC).
In a statement to KUNA, Musaed Al-Enzi, head of KRCS' delegation to Lebanon, said that food aid and cleaning materials were distributed to about 350 Syrian refugee families in the town of Berkayel in Akkar in northern Lebanon.
The campaign will cover needs of more than 7,000 Syrian refugee families for one month, he said, noting that the society will provide additional aid for refugees in winter.
On his part, Youssef Boutros, LRC's coordinator, lauded in a statement to KUNA huge efforts exerted by the society to deliver aid for Syrian refugees in different areas of Lebanon.
He affirmed that Kuwait has been aiding refugees since the beginning of the armed conflict in 2011. Kuwait is a major donor country for Syrian refugees and it had hosted three international donor conferences to alleviate their suffering.
